Volem 2: Verbal Multilingual lexicos for catalan, spanish, basque and french languages

This project is an extension of the shared work that was established all along the biennium 2000-02, in the VOLEM project. The objective is to enlarge the multilingual lexicon which has been created and which is very useful for diverse applications of the systems of natural language processing.

The first application has been achieved with the incorporation of Basque language in the multilingual base. Basque verbs have been codified following the criterion developed in the previous project; in this way, in the current lexicon there are 4 languages described with the same set of semantic roles and with the same syntactic-semantic schemes.

Secondly, it is intended to enlarge the number of codified verbs and in this way, to standardise it with the language with the largest number of verbs, in this case, the French one.

The participation in the web of the different research groups allows us to share knowledge and to make a shared development as well as to work in the standardisation of the information. Consequently, the last objective is to supply the existent multilingual resource with new languages and more data in order to built a base of linguistic data useful in the area of natural language processing for linguistic applications.
